Violence against Women and Their Children (VAWC) Act

ORIENTATION

On December 03, 2025, the Local Government Unit of Calamba conducted an Orientation on the Violence against Women and Their Children (VAWC) Act, alongside a season on Fostering a Gender- Inclusive Workplace for public officials and employees. This activity aimed to strengthen the LGU’s commitment to safeguarding the right of women and children, while also promoting a workplace environment to uphold equality, respect, and inclusiveness among its workforce.

Municipal Mayor Hon. Dr. Luisito B. Villanueva Jr. MNSA, formally opened the program with his opening remark, emphasizing the importance of continuous education and awareness in preventing violence and ensuring the government offices remain safe spaces for all.

This was followed by May F. Dominisac, who delivered the Introduction of Resources Speakers, high lighting their expertise and contribution to the field of justice and gender advocacy.

The First topic, fostering a Gender-Inclusive Workplace was discussed by Hon. Florence D. Lagcao-Rosabal, Presiding Judge of the 1^st MCTC Calamba-Baliagao, Misamis Occidental. She shared insight on gender sensitivity, workplace inclusivity, and the role of LGU employees in promoting fair and respectful treatment of all individuals, regardless of gender.

The orientation also feature Hon. Michael L. Ajoc, Presiding Judge of Regional Trial Court Branch 36, who provided an in-depth discussion on the VAWC Act, He explained the legal frameworks, protective measures, and responsibilities of government workers protective measures, and responsibilities of government workers in handling VAWC-related cases. His discussion helped participant’s better understanding how to support victim, uphold the law, and prevent abuse within the community,

The activity served as a meaningful opportunity for LGU employees to deepen their understanding of gender-related issues and strengthen their commitment to creating a safe and inclusive workplace for everyone.

LGU CHRISTMAS DÉCOR CONTEST 2025

On December 01, 2025, the Switch-On Night and First Judging was held at the Calamba Municipal Ground, led by Municipal Mayor Dr. Luisito B. Villanueva Jr., MNSA, together with Vice mayor Engr. Ezel T. Villanueva, the Sangguniang Bayan Member, and government employees.

The program began with an opening prayer by May F. Dominisac, follow by the National Anthem and Calamba March performed by the Symphonic Band.

Vice Mayor Engr. Ezel T. Villanueva delivered the welcome message, followed by Maria Corazon T. Descallar who introduces the panel of judges. Engr. Noel O. Palma then read the criteria for judging.

Municipal Mayor Dr. Luisito B. Villanueva Jr., gave an inspiring message and officially declared the Opening of light which was immediately followed by a spectacular fireworks display.

The Calambahanons, along with visitors from neighboring municipalities, enjoyed to witnessing opening of lights.

All entries were beautiful prepared and showcased impressive creativity. People were amazed by the displays and eagerly tool photos with each entry.

CNCHS Symphonic Band Perform at Division Meet

DIVISION MEET 2025

On September 15 to19, 2025, the Division Meet was successfully held in Plaridel, Misamis Occidental, gathering student-athletes, coaches and school delegation from across the division. The opening ceremony was made more meaning with the participation of the Calamba National Comprehensive High School (CNCHS) Symphonic Band, when performed the National Anthem and the Misamis Occidental March. Their stirring performance set a solemn and dignified tone for the event, showcasing not only the athletic talents of the youth but also the cultural pride of the province.

The Division meet served as a platform to further sportsmanship, camaraderie, and excellence among participating schools, as well as to prepare outstanding athletes for higher level of competition.

Turn-Over of Office Ceremony of Calamba MPS

Turnover of Office Ceremony

On September 27, 2025. (Saturday), at 3:00p.m., the Turnover of the Calamba Municipal Police Station was held at the Municipal Gymnasium. The program began with an invocation led by Chief MCAS PNC PS/Sgt. Jay Ann M. Tating followed by the Entrance of Colors by “A” Coy, 903^rd MOC RRIBn. Eagle Battalion, PA. The National Anthem and the Misamis Occidental March were rendered by the CNCHS Symphonic Band.

The event highlighted the transition from Outgoing-in-Charge (OIC), PCapt. Desiree B. Relos, to Incoming OIC, PCapt. Angelie P. Arrienda. The ceremony was presided over by Provincial Director, MOCPPO, PCol. Rommel B. Magleo, together with the Governor of Misamis Occidental, Hon. Henry S. Oaminal, with Vice Governor Hon. Rowena Gutierrez, and the Municipal Mayor of Calamba, Hon. Luisito B. Villanueva Jr., MNSA. They were joined by Board Member, Vice Mayor Engr. Ezel T.Villanueva, the Sangguniang Bayan Members, and the Police Personnel of Calamba Police Station.

PLt. Gianni Q. Pongase delivered the Welcome Remarks, followed by the Reading of Relief and Designation Order by PLtCol. Jereach C. Hilot, Chief PARMU.

Afterward, PCapt. Desiree B. Relos delivery her Valediction Address and Relinquishment of Office, officially turning over her responsibilities to PCapt. Angelie P. Arrienda. The turnover of Office Symbol, Property, and Equipment Inventory was administered by Pcol. Rommel B. Magleo, assisted by PEMs Ryan C. Medina and PCMS Rene C. Enoc. Chief Supply PNCO.

The ceremony continued with the Assumption of Office and Inaugural Speech of PCapt. Angelie P. Arriend. Message of support and inspiration were then shared by Municipal Mayor Dr. Luisito B. Villanueva Jr., MNSA, and Governor Atty. Henry S. Oaminal.

The program concluded with the singing of the PNP Hymn: PNP Linkod ng Bayan, the exit of color and photo Opportunities.

INAUGURAL SESSION AND THANKSGIVING MASS

On July 7, 2025, the Municipality of Calamba Occidental held a significant event marking the commencement of the 2025-2028 terms for its local government officials. The day began with a solemn Thanksgiving Mass at the LGU Atrium, officiated by Fr. Elmo Melo. This gathering brought together municipal officials, employees, barangay captains from all 19 barangay, and guest, fostering a spirit of gratitude and unity as they reflected on past blessing and sought guidance for their continued service to the community.

Following the mass, the Inaugural Session of the Sanguniang Bayan took place at the Session Hall on the 3^rd Floor of the Municipal Building. Vice Mayor Engr. Ezel T. Villanueva formally opened the session, welcoming the newly elected member of the Sangguniang Bayan. This session marked the official start of their legislative responsibilities for the next three years. During the proceeding, Board Member Alex Guantero shared an inspiring message, and council member reaffirmed their commitment to promoting responsive, transparent, and people centered governance. The event was also grace by Municipal Mayor Dr. Luisito B. Villanueva Jr., MNSA, department heads and barangay officials, symbolizing a unified approach to uplifting and empowering the community.
