ORIENTATION
On December 03, 2025, the Local Government Unit of Calamba conducted an Orientation on the Violence against Women and Their Children (VAWC) Act, alongside a season on Fostering a Gender- Inclusive Workplace for public officials and employees. This activity aimed to strengthen the LGU’s commitment to safeguarding the right of women and children, while also promoting a workplace environment to uphold equality, respect, and inclusiveness among its workforce.
Municipal Mayor Hon. Dr. Luisito B. Villanueva Jr. MNSA, formally opened the program with his opening remark, emphasizing the importance of continuous education and awareness in preventing violence and ensuring the government offices remain safe spaces for all.
This was followed by May F. Dominisac, who delivered the Introduction of Resources Speakers, high lighting their expertise and contribution to the field of justice and gender advocacy.
The First topic, fostering a Gender-Inclusive Workplace was discussed by Hon. Florence D. Lagcao-Rosabal, Presiding Judge of the 1st MCTC Calamba-Baliagao, Misamis Occidental. She shared insight on gender sensitivity, workplace inclusivity, and the role of LGU employees in promoting fair and respectful treatment of all individuals, regardless of gender.
The orientation also feature Hon. Michael L. Ajoc, Presiding Judge of Regional Trial Court Branch 36, who provided an in-depth discussion on the VAWC Act, He explained the legal frameworks, protective measures, and responsibilities of government workers protective measures, and responsibilities of government workers in handling VAWC-related cases. His discussion helped participant’s better understanding how to support victim, uphold the law, and prevent abuse within the community,
The activity served as a meaningful opportunity for LGU employees to deepen their understanding of gender-related issues and strengthen their commitment to creating a safe and inclusive workplace for everyone.
