To add fun during the 60th Foundation Anniversary of the Municipality of Calamba, Misamis Occidental different daily contests was held. This daily contests are for students in Elementary, High School and College that will enhance/boosts their talents for singing and dancing.
ETHNIC DANCE CONTEST
On the first day it was an ethnic dance contest were participants are from the Private and Public High Schools and Colleges.
The Ethnic Dance Contest held last February 7, 2008, 10 o’clock in the morning right after the flag raising and Interfaith Service. The Ethnic Dance Contest is a dance contest that includes the basic steps of any tribal group within Mindanao with a maximum of eight (8) students per group. Participants wore colorful costumes of any tribal group; makeup’s and dances to the beat of drums and other musical instruments.
While watching the ethnic dance contest, it is like the chance for us to travel the entire Mindanao in a day where audience and participants see the different culture and tradition through the dance contest.
Five (5) participating groups from the different Private and Public High School and College students faced off and fought for the Ethnic Dance Contest grand winner.
Attending this year’s competition were students from Liberation Institute, Calamba National Comprehensive High School and Sacred Heart College (College Department).

Modern dance contest held on the second day of the anniversary celebration February 8, 2008. Just like the ethnic dance contest, the modern dance contest participants were high school and college students from Private and Public High Schools and Colleges in Calamba.

The interpretative dance contests held last February 12, 2008 at 10 o’clock in the morning were the participating groups interpreted the Menajak Festival 2008 theme “ANG CALAMBA KAGAHAPON UG KARON, UBAN SA GUGMA UG PANAGHIUSA KALAMBUAN SA TANAN”. The participating groups were students from Poblacion Elementary Schools.
