    December 24, 2007 a day before Christmas day one thousand one hundred fifteen (1,115) families from the 19 Barangays of Calamba, Misamis Occidental showed up to avail the Pamaskong Handog ni President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo at Calamba Municipal Hall. The activity started at 9 o’clock in the morning.

 

    One thousand one hundred fifteen (1,115) families from the 19 barangays of Calamba who were identified by the Office of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) as indigent families droved to the Municipal Hall as early as 8 o’clock in the morning to received the gift packs from President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s “Pamaskong Handog” through the Local Government Unit of Calamba, Misamis Occidental.
 
    The Office of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development headed by MSWD Officer Gudelia I. Castaños with MSWDO personnel initiated the distribution of gift packs from President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s “Pamaskong Handog”. The gift pack of assorted goodies consists of 2 kilos of rice, 2 packs of noodles and 2 cans of corned beef. Though December 24 is a holiday but the MSWD personnel still give their time that day just to distribute the gift packs. This act of generosity is a noble act of concern to the less fortunate individuals.
 
    The Pamaskong Handog ni Pres. Gloria is a way of the national government to extend a helping hand to the Calambahanon by distributing gift packs to the less fortunate residents of the municipality.
 
    The beneficiaries of the Pamaskong Handog ni Pres. Gloria were very grateful because it’s a rare opportunity for them to received gifts a day before the Christmas day. They were so happy receiving the gifts. The goodies the beneficiaries   received are enough to let 1,115 families feel the joy of the Christmas season.
 
    The distribution of gift packs took many hours and it’s very tiring activity but the time spent is worth to remember. It was a half day activity.
 
    The activity was made possible through the joint efforts of the Office of the Department of Agrarian Reform and the Office of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development.
