The Barangay Health Workers (BHW), Hilots and Hypertension Club of the Municipality of Calamba, Misamis Occidental held its Christmas Party last December 20, 2007 at Mateo Matunog Gymnasium. This year’s theme “PAGHIGUGMA-PAKIGDAIT SA PAGSAULOG SA PASKO”.

 

    The celebration started with a thanksgiving mass at 8 o’clock in the morning then followed by a Christmas Party.  It’s a whole day activity.

    The Barangay Health Workers from the 19 Barangays, traditional midwife or locally know as Hilot and the members of the Hypertension Club attended the whole day Christmas Party. It is a yearly activity of fun, dance presentations ands gift giving.

    The occasion was graced by Municipal Officials headed by Municipal Mayor Dr. Luisito B. Villanueva, Jr., MNSA; Barangay Captains headed by the newly elected Association of Barangay Captains President Engr. Eziel Tabuelog Villanueva and Rural Health Unit personnel headed by Municipal Health Officer Dr. Rodolfo Mario C. Borbon, Jr..  

    Mayor Villanueva gives a message to the BHW. The first part of Mayor’s message is a reminder how our health is important. According to him we should take care of our health by eating the proper food with enough sleep to have a healthy life. This message is for the members of the hypertension club. The other part of his message is about Christmas: Christmas is not only the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ but also it is the time of giving and sharing. Each and every one of us in our own little way shares our blessings.  

    The viewers and guests enjoyed the dance presentation and the colorful costumes of the participants of the different presentation.

    Selected Barangay Health Workers (BHW) from the 19 Barangay showed their talent through dancing with the latest dance craze with matching sexy costumes. They feel that they were teens participating in a school program. The occasion revealed the hidden talents of the Barangay Health Workers. It is only once a year their hidden talents exposed.

    Newly elected ABC President Engr. Eziel T. Villanueva presented a dance presentation together with some of the Barangay Captains. The people never expected that they will present. It was a surprise number. Barangay Captains also showed their talents not only a law maker but also as dancers. Through dance presentation they were able to show their support to the occasion especially to their respective Barangay Health Workers.

    ABC President Villanueva in her message promised the BHW that after her oath-taking as a new ABC President, she will present to the Sangguniang Bayan Session regarding the increase of the honorarium of the BHW.

    One of the important highlight of the party besides fun and entertainment is the giving and distribution of surprise gifts by Dr. Rodolfo Mario C. Borbon, Jr. It is his way of showing his gratified for the BHW for their support of the Municipal Programs regarding the health of the constituents of all the barangays. Then also the exchanging gifts.

    It was ended a successful Christmas Party.
