    Awards and Recognition Night of the Most Outstanding Misamisnon and Most Outstanding Organization during the 78 Provincial Anniversary Celebration  held last November 29, 2007, 6 o’clock in the evening at Naomi’s Botanical Garden, Ozamis City with the theme “KAKUGI, KALAMBUAN KO: RESPONSIBILIDAD KO”.
 
    The organizers of the events awarded the organization that showed excellent contributions, accomplishments and services that benefited the people in the community.  The greatest concern of the Organization is the welfare of the community especially the people’s need. Organization’s capability to do the tasked that foresee the community and people’s need. Organization that provides important services where the concern is assisting the people of the community or society especially those that needs help. Organization must be active in a community/public services; must be connected or in partnership with the government sector, Local Government Unit or the Provincial Government of Misamis Occidental. Out of eleven (11) entries the Federated Women’s Welfare Association (FWWA) of the Municipality of Calamba, Misamis Occidental is one of the four (4) grand finalists for the Most Outstanding Organization along with Sinonoc Women’s Health of Sinonoc, Sinacaban, Misamis Occidental; Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club.

    The Federated Women’s Welfare Association (FWWA) of Calamba has been organized since 1995 then at present the FWWA already has 1,070 members with Mrs. Lolita A. Cadiatan as the Federated President and Sangguniang Bayan Member/SB Chairman on Women Hon. Judelyn Echavia Bolotaulo as their coordinator.  The FWWA has an outstanding contribution in the society   where their main concerns are the welfare and aims to better the conditions of women living in Calamba. Up to the present the FWWA has remained mainly an organization for women and has done much for the development and wellbeing of its members. The FWWA established or put-up income generating activities/programs like they made toga’s for rent, put-up canteen located at the Municipal Hall,  initiated lending to the members of the Association with minimal interest and etc.. Through this income generating activities and programs the Association has made progress.   

    For the past five (5) months as a Sangguniang Bayan Member Hon. Judelyn E. Bolotaulo showed an admirable leadership in community services. Though she is new in politics and public service but she tried her very best to do the task assigned to her as a chairperson on women. She had done services that benefited women in the municipality like visiting the barangays of Calamba where there are programs especially for women that needs to be monitored. She had done her duties and responsibilities in monitoring the welfare of women in the community because she is the Sangguniang Bayan Chairman on Women.  Hon. Bolotaulo attended the occasion to show her 100 percent support for the Association not only as a coordinator but also a nominator as will.

    The success of the FWWA as an organization is because of the join efforts and coordination of all the members, Federated President and the coordinator.   

    Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan was their guest of honor but he was not able to attend the occasion because of some emergency in Manila. So in his behalf Atty. Philip Tan of Tangub City read his message. In his messages Sen. Pangilinan said that he was thankful for the support rendered by the Misamisnon during the National and Local Election last May 14, 2007. He also said that progress start not in the National Government but from the grassroots. Organization is a big help for the community‘s progress and development.

    It was also an opportunity for SB Member Judelyn E. Bolotaulo, FWWA President Lolita Cadiatan and Women’s Worker/DSWD employee Helaria Mejos to submit their proposal to Sen. Pangilinan but they failed to do it because Sen. Pangilinan was not able to attend the event.  The proposal request of   P 2,000,000.00 to build a center that will be use by the FWWA to be their permanent office and center.  

    One of the highlight of the occasion is the giving of Plagues of Recognition to the Misamisnon heroes and achievers who give honor in the past to the Province of Misamis Occidental. Misamis Occidental Governor Loreto “Leo” S. Ocampos acknowledged Misamisnon heroes and achievers that excel in their field of interests, done heroism things to other people and achievements in life. People that share their bravery, talents, touched other people’s lives and give inspiration to others and to the society. Misamis is producing heroes of today and in the future. Gov. Loreto S. Ocampos, former Sangguniang Panlalawigan Member Rosario K. Balais and Ozamis City Vice Mayor Carlos Bernad handed the awards, check and Plague of Recognition to the awardees.  The awardees were Major Naranjo Lucas; William Lee Chongbian of William Lines; Late Sen. Jose Fortich Ozamis (the 1st and only Misamisnon Senator); Doña Josefa Boromeo Capistrano; Dr. Nestor Mercado Filiciano (Founder of Misamis University of Ozamis City); Mr. Filmore Alburadora of Calamba, Misamis Occidental (young farmer) and among others.     

    The main highlight of the occasion is the awarding and giving of Plaques of Recognition to the Most Outstanding Misamisnon and Most Outstanding Organization. Sinonoc Women’s Health of Sinonoc, Sinacaban, Misamis Occidental got the award for the Most Outstanding Organization while the Federated Women’s Welfare Association (FWWA) of the Municipality of Calamba, Misamis Occidental received a Plaque of Recognition. Though the FWWA did not get the award for the Most Outstanding Organization but it was an honor for them because among the 11 entries they made it to the four (4) grand finalists.

    The Plaque of Recognition received by the FWWA is a big achievement for the Association.  Their efforts and fruits of their labor were recognized and were given important. For them they are also a winner.
