The Department of Education in Calamba, Misamis Occidental in coordination with the Local Government Unit of Calamba presents the opening salvo to formally open the 59th Foundation Anniversary celebration of the Municipality of Calamba, Misamis Occidental.
The opening salvo held last February 7, 2007 at Don Mateo Matunog Gymnasium. The opening salvo started with the Fireworks displays which add life and color of the said occasion. Coloring the night sky with fireworks originally started the program. The whole area of the Municipal Quadrangle is crowded with viewers. While watching the fireworks, people enjoy the evening. The events teams spend money just to make the occasion more special. Fireworks shows are a fantastic part of the Opening Salvo.
The program was participated by all teachers from the private and public schools in Calamba. The DepEd Night showed the talents of school teachers. The talent night featured songs and dances.
The first performance was a dance presentation by the teachers from Dapacan Alto, Dapacan Bajo, Siloy, Libertad and Salvador. The dance presentation showing the dance styles of the Lumad.
The second performers are the school teachers from Sacred Heart School, showing the traditional dance during fiestas and other town gatherings.
The third performers are the school teachers from the Calamba Central School, showing the Minubo Tribe dance that unite the beauty of nature. It was a maximum intensity performance that boosts up the hidden talents of teachers with artistic costumes that shows the artistic side of the teachers.
The fourth performance shows the electrifying dance presentation from the school teachers of Philippine Independent Church Elementary School.
The fifth performers are the mentors from Bunawan, Langub, Calaran and Magcamiguing. They presented the Sayaw Pasahan which shows the customs and tradition of Filipino wedding. It was an amazing and realistic performance.
The sixth performers are the school teachers and staff from Calamba National Comprehensive High School. They presented the different dance styles like Tinikling, Japanese dance, Hunyang dance, Russian dance, Chinese palm dance and Spanish move that show love and unity. It was around the world performance. The breath taking performance that made the teachers proud of themselves and that they have talents to show.
The seventh performers are the teachers from Mamalad, Bonifacio, Sulipat, San Isidro, Mauswagon. They did the Andalos De Negros dance.
The last but not the least performers are the teachers from Southwestern Poblacion and Singalat. They showed the different Muslim dance wearing a colorful malong and shawl. The dancers also use a pair of fan to coordinate with their small steps.
A surprise number from the male group of Department of Education, they sing a medley song which left the audience love struck and reminiscing.
Meanwhile, the Municipal Mayor Dr. Luisito B. Villanueva, Jr. gave an inspiring message to all the teachers and guests who were present during the program. He stressed that the teachers should retrain and periodic upgrading of their skills and learning to improve the quality of education.
The last part of the program was the community singing entitled “I’m a Teacher”.
Teachers are not only talented in developing quality education to students but they were also wonderful actors, fantastic singers and graceful dancers. Not only the viewers and other guests looking forwards to the teachers’ performance on stage but as well as their students who want to witness how talented their mentors are.
The affair was cheerfully done as most of the talented teachers and staff from the Department of Education displays their hidden talents in dancing and singing just to show each and everyone with the best of fun and enjoyment.
It was a showdown of talents!!!!!!!!!
