The Local Government Unit of Calamba, Misamis Occidental was very supported of the Barangays products and projects. Right after the Interfaith Thanksgiving Service the Local Tourism Council in coordination with the Local Government Unit of Calamba launched the One-Barangay One-Product (OBOP).
Right after the launching of OBOP the blessing of Calamba Pasalubong Center followed.
During the Local Economic Development (LED) Seminar held last year, one of the proposed projects of the Local Government Unit of Calamba, Misamis Occidental is to have a Pasalubong Center. At February 8, 2011 during the celebration of the 63 Araw ng Calamba the dream to have a Pasalubong center finally happened.
Putting up a Pasalubong center is one of the development projects of Calamba Local Tourism Council.
Rev. Fr. Manuel V. Marasigan of Philippine Independent Church (PIC) conducted the blessing ceremony. It was formally opened with the cutting of ribbon initiated by the guests from the Provincial Tourism Office headed by Tourism Provincial Chairman Mr. Gerard H. Ramiro, DTI Provincial Director Dir. Delia M. Ayano with Municipal Mayor Dr. Luisito B. Villanueva Jr., MNSA, Municipal Vice Mayor Jesus C. Enerio and Local Tourism Council Chairman and ABC President Hon. Ezel T. Villanueva
The Calamba Pasalubong Center showcases products made by Calambahanons such as home made delicacies (Cakes, Chips) from Cassava, bottled lemon juice, native bags, cell phone holder and sleepers made from abaca and other local products.
The idea of putting up a Pasalubong Center was approved during the LED Seminar for the reason of promoting the local products of Calamba especially the products coming from the barangays and also it gives opportunity to the Calambahanons to earn additional income by displaying their delicacies and hand made products.
The Pasalubong Center is located along the National Highway (highway going to Dipolog City and Ozamis City) beside one of Calamba’s landmark the Rizal Rotunda.
The Pasalubong Center is intended for passengers that pass by this town in going to Dipolog City, Ozamis City, Baliangao and the nearby municipalities.
