2024 Rankings of Cities & Municipalities of the Province of Misamis Occidental released by Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI).
Rankings of Cities and Municipalities are based on the sum of their scores on 5 Pillars: Economic Dynamism, Government Efficiency, Infrastructure, Resiliency, and Innovation.
Provincial rankings are based on population and income weighted average of the Overall scores of cities and municipalities under a province.
And Calamba is the TOP 1 among 3rd & 4th Class Municipality.

2024 SEAL OF GOOD LOCAL GOVERNANCE NATIONAL VALIDATION
On September 03, 2024. The Government Unit of Calamba, Misamis Occidental, spearheaded by Municipal Mayor Dr. Luisito B. Villanueva Jr., MNSA, Municpal Vice Mayor Hon. Antonio Lawas, and Municipal Administrator Engr. Ezel T. Villanueva, alongside Sangguniang Bayan Member, department head, employees and the Barangay Captains of Calaran and Bonifacio, participated in the national assessment for the 2024 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) National Assessment. This significant event took place at the 3rd floor SB legislative building, aiming to acknowledge and reward exemplary performance in local governance
The program commenced with an invocation led by pastor Edgar B. Burlat OSCA head. Following this, Faith R. Constantino MLGOO VI DILG Calamba, provide an acknowledgment of the SGLG National Validators. The validation team included, PD Mario A. Baterna Provincial Director, DILG Zamboanga Sibugay, Jonh Mark J. Ruiz LGOO VI Jose Dalman, Zamboanga. Del Norte, and Danica C. Vicente SGLG Provincial Focal Person.
The assessment evaluated the local government unit across ten key areas of governance. 1) Financial Administration and Sustainability, 2) Disaster Preparedness, 3) Social Protection and Sensitivity, 4) Health Compliance and Responsiveness, 5) Sustainable Education, 6) Business-Friendliness and Competitiveness, 7) Safety, Peace, and Order,8) Environment Management, 9) Tourism, Heritage Development, Culture, and Arts and 10) Youth Development.
The assessment process began with interview of the department heads responsible for each governance area, followed by comprehensive onsite inspection to verify and evaluate the practices and implementation in place. This assessment reflect the commitment of the Calamba local governance to uphold high standards in governance and public service, aiming to achieve the Seal of Good Governance for 2024.

124th CIVIL SERVICE ANNIVERSARY 2024
Pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 1050, series of 1997 also declares the month of September as the Civil Service month, The municipality is celebrating with the Civil Service Commission on its 124th Philippine Civil Service month celebration with the theme: Transforming Public Service in the next Decade: Honing Agile and Future-Ready Servant-Heroes.
The following activities for the month of September. First is Health & Wellness Activities (Zumba every Friday and Medical Activity) by RHU Department, held at Municipal at Atrium. This activities aims to foster goodwill and camaraderie among the employees on the agency and inspire each government employees to improve their mental and physical health through medical check- ups and exercise.
Second is Tree planting and clean-up Drive on September 20, 2024; 6:30 AM at Siloy Manmade Lake for tree planting and DBAN Creek for clean-up drive. Facilitated by MENR Office, This activity is for the support of sustainable environment and natural resources management. This activity emphasizes the critical need to care for our planet and foster environmentalism and patriotism in partnership with the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO). It is vital in nurturing the enduring vitality of ecosystem, ensuring a sustainable legacy for current and future generation.
The third and last activity is Thanksgiving Mass on September 30, 2024 held at Municipal Atrium. All employees are wearing Filipiniana and Barong during the thanksgiving Mass to uphold the importance of instilling a sense of pride and identity among government officials and employees through the wearing of Filipiniana and Barong, it also recognize the demands for level-headedness in the workforce while giving thanks for all the blessing especially for the entrusted career to each and everyone.
There’s a raffle and official pictorial to all employees and pictorial per office, which could be fun and engaging event for all everyone involved.

A HEARTFELT THANKSGIVING
"Completing my education degree has been a transformative journey, and receiving this scholarship is a profound recognition of the dedication and hard work that went into achieving this milestone," declared by Mr. Tim Clark Ramos, one of our OFOP Scholars from Calamba. A living testimony of the impact this program has made to our most recent scholar graduates.
As thanksgiving to our hardworking leader, Governor Henry S. Oaminal, and to his personal educational program "One Family, One Professional", we proudly present these amazing graduates from our municipality, the beneficiaries that made great fruit of the program. We are forever grateful to the opportunity given to our scholar-graduates that has provided them the head start to reaching their life dreams. The Municipality of Calamba, Misamis Occidental is beyond gratified for allowing our youth to be included in such program.
To our amazing scholar-graduates, your achievements are a testament to your hard work, perseverance, and dedication. Your success stories are an inspiration to us all, and we are proud of each and every one of you.
