CALAMBAHANON PARTICIPATED IN

ALAY LAKAD 2015

 

The Local Government Unit of Calamba, Misamis Occidental spearheaded the annual Alay Lakad 2015 in cooperation with the different government agencies, private entities, Department of Education (DepEd), Civic groups, NGO’s and business sectors last December 4, 2015.

 

 

Alay Lakad is a walk for a cause activities organized to raise funds to support and sponsor for the educational and livelihood projects of the Municipal’s Out-of-School Youth.

 

At the Municipal Quadrangle, a short program was held and part of the program is the “Hataw Dance” headed by the students from Calamba National Comprehensive High School. Vice Mayor Jesus C. Enerio, Municipal Administrator Mr. Godfrey C. Atay and Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer Mrs. Gudelia I. Castaños delivered short messages.

 

The proceeds of the fund-raising will benefit the Municipal’s Out-of-School Youth through educational assistance like sending them to short-term courses, skills training and livelihood programs that help the OSY to earn additional income.  

 

Municipal Vice Mayor Jesus C. Enerio led the walk-for-a-cause together with the Sangguniang Bayan Members, Calamba - Philippine National Police headed by Police Senior Inspector Cerilo B. Verano, National and Municipal employees headed by Municipal Administrator Mr. Godfrey C. Atay.

 

School administrators together with their faculties, staffs and students from the public and private high schools and colleges showed their support by joining the early morning walk.

 

The hikers walk along the prescribe routes from Municipal Quadrangle to Barangay Dapacan Bajo. The 50 minutes walk started from Municipal Quadrangle then passed through Barangay Southwestern Poblacion then to Barangay Don Bernardo A. Neri and ended in Barangay Dapacan Bajo. Despite of the cold weather of dawn they enjoyed the thrill, the fun with their big smiles and cheerfully posed for the cameras. 

 

Sponsors are then required to donate a certain amount and this year’s contribution are as follows: P 500.00 for Legislative/Executive, P 250.00 for Head of Office, P 50.00 for Rank and File while P 20.00 for the Casual/Job Order, and for the students   P 5.00 for the College, P 2.00 for the High School, P 1.00 for the elementary students and for the Business sectors their contribution is P 20.00 or above.

The funds raised from last year’s contribution reached P 37,177.00. The participating agencies voluntarily contributed the said amount are Daycare Worker Association, Local Council of Women, Post Office, Bureau of Internal Revenue, Philippine National Police, Department of Interior and Local Government, Municipal Circuit Trial Court, Department of Agrarian Reform, Sacred Heart College (elementary, high school and college) , Religious Group, Bureau of Fire, CAFÉ CARBA, Liberation Institute, Senior Citizens, Philippine Independent Church School, Municipal Officials and Employees, Department of Education, Federation of Women and Welfare Association and Calamba National Comprehensive High School.
