Winners of Batang Pinoy KARATEDO 2013 during the Mindanao Qualifying Leg held at Tagum City, Davao del Norte

The Calambahanons love sports that improve physical activities and skills while at the same time provides entertainment to the viewers and participants. During Araw ng Calamba celebration, Fiesta and even Araw ng Barangay, the Calambahanons organized sports competition like basketball, soccer and boxing. Sports also highlight the celebration.     

The Calambahanons also encourage and support the youth to go into sports or join sports that will give them the opportunities to enjoy, socialize with other youth especially from the nearby municipalities and to have the chance to be physically fit.

The Batang Pinoy held the Mindanao Qualifying Leg last August 27-31, 2013 at Tagum City, Davao del Norte. The Batang Pinoy is an open tournament for children ages 15 and below. The presentations is strictly by Local Government Unit in the form of Provincial, City/Municipality and Barangay representation and the contestants should be from a particular Local Government Unit.

After five days of competition, Trixia Lyra P. Coca placed second with a silver medal while Andrea Lyca P. Coca won the third place and go home with a bronze medal during the BATANG PINOY KARATEDO.

Mr. Alberto O. Tolibas trains his players for 2 to 3 hours and three times a week.

Trixia Lyra and Andrea Lyra are both members of the Philippine Traditional Karate Federation (Japan Karate Association) Plaridel Chapter registered under the Securities and Exchange Commission with SEC No. CN-201029895.

Municipal Mayor Ezel T. Villanueva with the Batang Pinoy KARATEDO winners


 

The achievements and honor brought by our kababayan give an idea to Municipal Mayor Ezel T. Villanueva with the help of Philippine Traditional Karate Federation (Japan Karate Association) to organize an invitational karatedo here in Calamba in the near future for the Karate enthusiasts.
