 Alay Lakad 2014 
 
 
Last September 23, 2016 at 4 o’clock in the morning, the Local Government Unit of Calamba, Misamis Occidental once again supports the walk-for-a-cause by participating in this year's Alay Lakad. 
 
The Alay Lakad is a yearly walk conducted nationwide. More or less thousand participants from the Local Government Unit (Municipal officials and employees), Philippine National Police, public and private high schools and college students and faculties, private sectors and Non-Government Organization participates this year’s alay lakad. 
 
As early as 4 o’clock in the morning, the program started with a hataw dance headed by the teachers from the Calamba National Comprehensive High School. The Hataw is a dance with aerobics exercise that made the participants more energetic. 
 
The hikers walked from Don Mateo Matunog Multi-Purpose Gym going to Purok 3 of Barangay Sulipat. 
 
According to Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer Mrs. Gudelia I. Castaños, the Alay Lakad aims to raise funds to finance socio-economic projects, to improve the skills and livelihood opportunities and education for the Out-of-School Youth (OST). 
 
Being a fund-raising activity to help the Out-of-School Youth (OST), this year’s Alay Lakad donations are as follows for the Legislative and Executive P 500.00, Head of Office P 250.00, Rank and File Regular Employees            P 50.00; Casual Employees P 30.00, College students P 5.00, High School students P 3.00, elementary students P 1.00 and P 20.00 for the business sectors/private/NGO. 
 
The event aims to spread awareness not only to the employees, teachers but especially to the students to give them ideas on how to help their fellow youth especially the disadvantage youth to obtain a better life through funds raised.
