 FLAG RAISING/BANNER RAISING AND INTERFAITH SERVICE FORMALLY OPENED THE 66TH ARAW NG CALAMBA

66 years ago Calamba was formerly part of the municipal territory of Plaridel, Misamis Occidental. Being the fastest growing barrio, it was separated from the Municipality of Plaridel and became independent on February 1, 1948, under Executive Order No. 85 series of 1947 by the late President of the Philippines, His Excellency Manuel A. Roxas. It was inaugurated into a municipality on February 14, 1948. 

February 10, 2014, the Municipality of Calamba, Misamis Occidental held the opening of the 66th Araw ng Calamba with the theme “DINHA SA ATONG PANAGHIUSA UG GUGMA MAKAB-OT ANG KALAMBOAN”. 

Municipal Officials headed by Municipal Mayor Ezel T. Villanueva, Municipal Vice Mayor Jesus C. Enerio and the Sangguniang Bayan together with the Municipal and National Employees, Association of Barangay Council, Religious Ministers from different religious organization, School Principals and other sectors gathered together for a very special event which is the Flag Raising Ceremony and banners raising of the 19 Barangays with their respective Barangay Chairman that formally opened the celebration of the 66th Araw ng Calamba. 
After the flag raising, the guests and employees proceed to the Municipal Gymnasium for the Interfaith Service. The Religious Coordinating Team (RCT) hosted the Interfaith Service in celebration of the Araw ng Calamba. The service observed through reading of bible, musical presentations from  United Church of Christ in the Philippines (UCCP) Choir, Calamba Evangelical Church Choir, Seventh Day Adventist Quartet and Bible Baptist Temple Choir. It was a stirring rendition. Lastly the service is also observed through prayers. 
The ministers offered prayer for the Country, for the Municipal, Provincial and National Officials, Community, Family, Youth, the 66th celebration of Araw ng Calamba, Education, Health, Subanen Community, for the Local Government Unit and for the Peace and Order of the Municipality as well as the entire county. 
It was a beautiful ceremony aimed to provide a prosperous, peaceful and enjoyable celebration.
