 LGU of Calamba, Misamis Occidental commemorates the 117th death anniversary of Dr. Jose P. Rizal

Municipal Mayor Ezel T. Villanueva led the 117th death anniversary celebration of our National Hero Dr. Jose P. Rizal with this year’s theme: “RIZAL: INSPIRASYON NOON, NGAYON AT BUKAS”.
On the 30th day of December 2013 as early as 6:30 in the morning, the Municipal Officials headed by the Municipal Mayor and the Sangguniang Bayan Members together with the Municipal and National Employees, Philippine National Police, Veterans Federation of the Philippines - Calamba Post, Sacred Heart College Faculty & Staff, Calamba Teachers and Employees Association (CALTEA), Misamis Occidental Electric Cooperatives Inc. (MOELCI-I) employees, Calamba National Comprehensive High School Faculty and Staff, College of Communication Information and Technology, Inc. Faculty and Staff, Local Council of Women, Federated Women’s Organization and Association of Barangay Council (ABC) gathered together at the Municipal Quadrangle then marched to Rizal Rotunda for the short program. 
The invocation was led by Sangguniang Bayan Member Hon. Rezie C. Leonardo. 
The Calambahanon joined the rest of the country in commemorating the death anniversary of our national hero Dr. Jose P. Rizal.  The Calambahanon salute the sacrifice of Rizal for the freedom the whole nation gained and his nationalism through a short program, wreath-laying/flower offering with taps and raising of the Philippine flag at Rizal’s monument.  
Aside from Mayor Villanueva, other important officials who were present include Municipal Vice Mayor Jesus C. Enerio and Members of the Sangguniang Bayan namely Hon Emmanuel M. Cale, Hon. Joseph C. Malayao, Hon. Rezie C. Leonardo, Hon Edgar V. Iman, Hon. Amelita Y. Preciado, and Hon. Rodrigo T. Garcia  
After the raising of the Philippine flag, this was followed by an offering of flowers at Rizal’s monument. 
Guest speaker of the ceremony is Mr. Sedfrey Dickson M. Atay son of Municipal Administrator Mr. Godfrey C. Atay.
