Local Government Unit of Calamba, business owners, NGO’s and individuals sent relief goods to typhoon Yolanda victims

Typhoon Yolanda hit the Philippines particularly in the Visayas areas (Tacloban City, Samar and Leyte) causing massive destructions of infrastructures and killing thousands of lives.  Typhoon Yolanda wiped out the communities along the coastal areas and even in the city proper. Some areas are really terribly damage where you can see dead bodies.

The affected people were struggling to find foods and searching their missing love ones. Many of our kababayan are homeless and no food to eat, no clean water to drink and no medicines for the victims of the said typhoon.

The Local Government Unit of Calamba, Misamis Occidental headed by Municipal Mayor Ezel T. Villanueva is organizing support to the typhoon Yolanda victims with the local business sectors, Non-Government Organizations, individuals that are willing to donate foods and clothing.

The LGU of Calamba allocated P 150,000.00 worth of rice and can goods for typhoon Yolanda victims in Tacloba City, Leyte and Samar. The source of funds used to purchase the relief goods is from the Local Government Unit calamity fund.

Many of the Calambahanon respond to the call to help initiated by Mayor Villanueva. Grocery and business owners, individuals delivered can goods (sardines and beef loafs), noodles, mineral water, used clothes to the Municipal Hall.

The Local Government Unit employees, volunteers and the 55th Infantry Battalion helped repack relief goods to be sent to the affected areas. The LGU delivered 632 relief packs.

The LGU coordinated the 55th IB to transport the relief goods to Pagadian City then to Tacloban City via C130.
