"Angel Tree Project 2010 of Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to the Municipality of Calamba, Misamis Occidental"

Children and gifts giving symbolized our Christmas tradition. The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) spearheaded by the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) in coordination with the Office of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development (MSWD) held the Angel Tree Project 2010 last December 22, 2010 at Mateo Matunog Gymnasium at 1 o'clock in the afternoon.

138 daycare students from Barangays Dapacan Bajo, Upper and Lower Langub, Tres de Mayo of Don Bernado A. Neri, Purok 2 and 4 of Solinog and Northern Poblacion benefited from Angel Tree Project that allows children's wishes for foods, clothing, and other gifts that useful for their school activities and daily lives.

Angel Tree is a project of the Department of Labor and Employment that reaches out to Daycare students though giving of gifts which were donated by NGO's, SB Members and other donors. This program gives opportunity to share Christ's love by giving gifts to children.

3 years ago Mrs. Maria Corazon T. Descallar a PESO Manager Designate launched the Angel Tree Project of the Department of Labor and Employment through the PESO in Calamba, Misamis Occidental. Every year the Local Government Unit of Calamba participate the program.

For the past years the Angel Tree Project of the Municipality of Calamba tries to bring joy to the Calambahanons children especially to less fortunate children were most of them dream of receiving gifts from Santa Clause. The wishes of children were realized because of the help and generosity of the sponsors (in kind and in cash).

The Angel Tree Project also gives opportunity to people who dreamed of helping and granting the wishes of less fortunate children and sharing their blessing especially at Christmas time.

The said program also provides Jollibee foods from the sponsors. Aside from gifts and foods, children enjoyed watching Jollibee mascot while dancing.

The occasion was successful through the collaboration efforts between the government, private sectors, NGO's and other concerned individual and sectors.
