ABC President Hon. Ezel T. Villanueva joined the synchronized planting of trees during the celebration of the Philippine Arbor Day last June 25, 2012 in accordance with Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Memorandum. June 25 of every year was declared as Philippine Arbor Day under Presidential Proclamation 396.Philippine Arbor Day is a holiday in which individuals and groups are encouraged to plant and care for trees (Wikipedia).

All Barangay Officials are directed to take part the said activity. The tree-planting shall be headed by the barangay officials. In support of the activity, Federated ABC President/Board Member Hon. Aurora Virginia M. Almonte and Board Member Hon. Jimmy Delos Santos impart funds for the meals and snacks of the participants. The budget of the seedlings is from the Calamity Fund of Barangay Southwestern Poblacion.

Planting trees has a big impact on people’s lives, health especially for the environment. The impact will continue from generation to generation.
Aside of complying the DILG memorandum, Barangay Southwerstern reasons for the tree planting helps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, reduce the presence of toxics gases in the atmosphere, provide clean, geen and health surroundings and beautification along Barangay Southwestern Poblacion Areas.
